| After the record breaking success of the Mick Jagger screenprint offered in our Fall Live Auction in December, Cowley Abbott is pleased to offer these two outstanding works by the internationally acclaimed artist, Andy Warhol. The artworks will be offered in our Spring Live Auction of Important Canadian and international art at the Globe and Mail Centre on the 30th of May. As one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century, Andy Warhol enjoys an enviable position within the art world, celebrated for pioneering the standards of creative expression. The diversity of his subject matter is astounding. He captured the most illustrious figures of his generation, from artists like Robert Rauschenberg and David Hockney to stars like Mick Jagger and Elizabeth Taylor, politicians including President Nixon and Chairman Mao Zedong, to athletes such as Wayne Gretzky and Muhammad Ali. |
